First Baptist Church (Est. 1827) is situated in historic West Townsend Village, on the bank of the Squannacook river. Behind the building is the Amadon Memorial Prayer Garden. Overlooking the river, the woodland sanctuary is a quiet refuge for prayer and worship. Memorial gifts to develop and maintain the garden have been given in loving memory of Richard H. Amadon and G. Marion Amadon.

We believe in the Bible as the only inspired, infallible Word of God, our source of truth for faith and life. We preach the gospel of Jesus Christ - that forgiveness of sins and eternal life is given freely to all who truly put their faith in the Son of God, the crucified and risen Lord.
